Say something in Dutch: instant success!

Postby youngblandford » Fri Jan 18, 2013 12:45 pm

I only did the first lesson 3 days ago, but I've already had the chance to use it. I'm sitting in a cafe in Antwerp and said I would like a glass of beer, please in Dutch.

Big smiles and a well done from the waitress.

I think this is the fastest practical use of a say something lesson I've had so far!

Ian, you've no idea how happy that makes me! Dankjewel for sharing it with us.

BTW, was it a "Bolleke" that she gave you? I seem to remember that is the traditional Antwerp beer, but I am a bit rusty on my Antwerp beers now.

Great, Antwerpen is a lovely town, can you remember the name of the pub you went to?
Was it at the big Market?

The cafe was called the Matterhorn.
Im not sure exactly where, but it's near the shopping district.

It was a Maes. Which always reminds me of the bootcamp where I used the phrase "Maes marw" to describe a cemetery.
