When do you use gofyn wrth and when do you use gofyn i? Whats the difference between the two?

Gofyn wrth is technically incorrect, but plenty of people use it nevertheless.

So, I suppose the answer is that you would use gofyn i when you want to make sure that you're not going to be told off by a pedant. :wink:

Within the context of this course (Northern), the answer seems to be that you use gofyn i when asking someone to do something:

Wnes i ofyn i ti wneud rhywbeth - I asked you to do something.

Compare this with:

Wnes i ofyn rhywbeth wrthot ti - I asked you something.

This is a common usage thing rather than anything else, as Robert points out. On the Southern course, I understand that gofyn wrth is not used at all...
