Congratulations to the Newt for making the cut. But Aran, did you consider that at quarter after 9 your time it's 4:15 in the morning over here? I wasn't in the queue, so it's dim ots 'da fi, but I've a friend in the New York area who I'm hoping was up _really_ early, else

And yes, I know, no matter what you do, somebody's going to be bent out of shape. It's tough being a rock star. :harhar:

As I'm new to SSIW I missed out on the original info. I guess the date at top means it was decided to do it during term time. Are there other bootcamps in the North out of term time. I find that I could try my Welsh out in the locality as there are a lot of Welsh first language speakers and its good to listen to them now as I understand more of what they are saying in the supermarket. However , if they answered me I probably wouldnt be able to take the conversation any further (as happened last week in work). i need to practice with others who are also learning.I suppose I should read through the different posts to find out more about other bootcamps but I'm easily distracted on here and end up reading different posts and forget what I intended doing . Have you tried to get a Skype partner at all, Ange? That can be a very effective way of practising with other learners. There is also ffrinDiaith to try and pair up with a first language speaker.

I'm afraid that there's a good chance this will be the only northern Bootcamp this year - there's a small chance Catrin might do one in the autumn, and if there's a majority in favour of out of term time, we can certainly consider that (it was the other way round when we were discussing this Bootcamp).

But it's also worth looking at the Tresaith Bootcamps - northern speakers are every bit as welcome there - last year was the first time we did a separate northern Bootcamp at all, and we had southern learners on it, so it really doesn't matter in terms of which course you're following...:)

I thought I had booked the final place successfully, but although I had a receipt from PayPal, the transaction is not showing on my account. Aran, please can you confirm if I have a place or not. If not, I'll put myself on the reserve list.

Sounds odd - I've just checked, and you're safely in there Anne, and showing as having had your payment processed and everything...:D

I know what that feels like!

The most important thing to know about Bootcamp is that before you go on one, you must finish all of SSIW Course 1 (either northern or southern) and all of the SSIW Course 1 vocab units, even if you've got Welsh from other sources/classes, too. That gives everyone some common base, which matters because at Bootcamp there is no English spoken or heard at all.

The other important thing is what Aran said: people who've done the Northern course are welcome at the Bootcamps in Tresaith -- schedule and other info for 2014 here.

New transactions may take a while to show in your Paypal account. That's the standard text they are using.
