Actually, Gary, my daughter turned to me the other day and actually said, "Dw i'n siarad Cymraeg" - I nearly died! She has obviously just picked it up from hearing me say it so often and has obviously got so fed up with hearing it, she just felt she had to say it back to me! So I'm encouraged...there's hope yet! :D

Waaa hooo!
I've just finished lesson 5 (after a bit of a break) and I glanced at the vocab for lesson 6 and the bonus phrases
AND

guess what?

I understood them!! (well, some of them, eg could you speak a little slower, please?)

I can read Welsh (a bit)

Thank you, thank you, thank you (a diolch yn fawr!)

Wow, I'm sooooo impressed with this course. I'm off camping in Wales next weekend and I shall be going into shops and very , very slowly saying 'Oes gen ti bara?' followed very swiftly by 'Dwi'n dysgu Cymreag yn unig' (I hope that last bit is right, or at least comprehensible)

Llongyfarchiadau  .

I like to use; "Dw i'n siarad cymraeg tipyn bach, achos dw i'n dysgu."

However, I'm starting to think that I may be able to drop the tipyn bach sometime in the foreseeable future :D , but then again...

Daliwch ati  .
Please feel free to correct my Welsh.

Finished Lesson 22 Course 3 (Northern).

I know how it is. because here in Switzerland we British always try to speak Schwyzer -dutsh ( a german dialect spoken in Switzerland) and invariably the Swiss answer back in English! One just has to go on trying.

Just thought I'd give an update regarding my recalcitrant daughter...last night she startled me by suddening turning to me in the kitchen and declaring, "Beth wyt ti'n gwneud i siarad Cymraeg?" She was just stringing words together that she had overheard me saying, of course, but I was surprised that her sentence even made sense, in a fashion! So perhaps I am not learning Welsh in vain after all... :D
