Feeling "chuffed"

I am at the caravan at the moment and went into Aberteifi this morning for a hair cut and to buy a few bits and pieces.

1. I went into Llinos (hairdressers) and had a conversation in Welsh with my hairdresser

2. Then to a great new shop called Carafters Cwtch and met a gentleman who was a Welsh speaker and a lady who was learning Welsh. I managed a conversation in there too and was thrilled when he said that my Welsh sounded good and -- when she said that she had been learning in classes for a while but that I had far more Welsh than her - I gave her details of SSiW :D . The other nice thing in that shop was that we were talking in Welsh about where I lived and the caravan etc and a lady was waiting to pay so I moved out of the way for her and she said ---- "I would love to be able to speak Welsh" so ... she got info about SSiW too :D

3. Then onto Arwen Teifi where I had a disaster last month but this time I was able to remind the owner about last months disaster and -- was able to tell him that since then, I had improved because of -- SSiW learning but also because of FfrinDiath -- all in Welsh.

4. And FINALLY --- had a great conversation this afternoon with my FfrinDaith friend Angela who has made SUCH a difference to my confidence and willingness to have a go.

SO -- chuffed -- still LOADS of mistakes, wrong tenses, forgotten words, wrong pronunciation and ... difficulty in understanding but a couple of months ago I couldn't have done any of those Aberteifi conversations.

I have to close the caravan now for the season -- back to Liverpool on Friday and -- I can't come back again until March so .... 4+ months to learn and practice and be able to have better conversations when I am back in Ceredigion in 2014.

Thanks all x

Pah! Someone who has conversations in Welsh is by definition a Welsh speaker. From there on in, all they do is have more conversations on a wider range of topics - but you wouldn't say you're not a swimmer yet because you can't do butterfly, would you?...:D

Llongyfarchiadau mawr iawn i ti, Colette...:seren:

That's brilliant Colette. Looking forward to meeting up again with you soon. I'll need to make sure I keep on top of my Welsh now or you'll be putting me to shame! :D

Holy WOW!! You are so cool, and I'm really proud of you. I don't even know you! Haha!
Really, though, this is inspirational and I'm wiggling in my seat from the joy I feel for you being so brave and successful - even if you did make some minor mistakes along the way! Way to go!!
